Preset Tip Options

Modified on Tue, 15 Apr at 11:08 AM

For businesses that accept tips, when customers pay via credit card, you can let them select a tip from your card terminal (Web) or the tablet (iOS/Android). You can specify defaults to be shown as preset percentage (10%, 15%, etc.) or dollar ($10, $15, etc.). The values entered here will be shown as three preset % or $ on the terminal, along with the other option for a total of four options. The "Other" option allows the client to enter a custom $ tip amount. In this article, we will look at both options.

Things to know:

  • Tips can only be added for services
  • Default tip button behavior by payment account type
    • Stripe Payment Accounts: You cannot include 0% as a tip option. If you do, the settings won’t save and an error message will appear: "Tip percentages must be integers in the range 1% to 100%."
    • Cloud9 Payment Accounts: You can include 0% as a tip option, and the settings will save without error.
  • Leaving the fields blank will display only a custom tip entry screen on the terminal

To set your preset tip values:

  1. Log into your MyTime account
  2. Navigate to Business Setup > Settings page
  3. Scroll down to the “Tipping” section
  4. Toggle "Allow clients to leave tips?" to YES 19688325-950efa758995602e94d5471b34ac9946.png
  5. Next, set your default tip amounts in the fields below "Default tip buttons" 19679827-462dd63bfa57fe9cdc22e64bb2176ce3__1_.png
