The SMS Usage report displays all the days within the selected time range when SMS messages were sent. These messages are categorized into Communicator, Text-to-Tip, Transactional, and Marketing SMS.
Things to know:
- The ability to access this report is governed by the "Accessing Reports" access control settings
- Twilio (and the SMS industry as a whole) counts messages using message segments. Learn more about segments here.
- The report is not visible on parent accounts, only on child accounts
- Data in this report is displayed according to the location selected in the location filter.
- The report can be accessed from the "My Account" page under the "My Plan" tab or directly from the Reports tab
To access the report from the Reports tab:
Navigate to Dashboard
Select the Reports tab
Under the Company section, select the SMS Usage report
To access the report from the My Account tab:
- Navigate to My Account
- Select My Plan
Once the report is opened, in the upper left you may filter by the date the SMS was sent and on the right, you can export the report as a CSV, PDF, or print version.
Report Filters
Filter | Description |
Location | This filter allows you to easily segment and review SMS activity by location.

Date | The date range for which SMS messages were sent |
Report Columns
Column | Description |
Date | The date the SMS was sent. |
Transactional SMS Segments | The number of Transactional SMS sent during the date range. |
Transactional SMS Details | The title of the Transactional SMS template that was sent. Eg. Appointment Cancellation |
Marketing SMS Segments | The number of Marketing SMS sent during the date range. |
Marketing Details | The title of the Marketing SMS template that was sent. Eg. Rebooking Reminder, Invite clients to Book you Online |
Communicator SMS Segments | The number of Communicator SMS sent during the date range. |
Tip SMS Segments | The number of Request for Text-to-Tip SMS sent during the date range. |
Total SMS Segments | Total Marketing, Text-to-Tip, and Communicator SMS sent during the date range. |
