Value credits provide members with a specified monetary amount to use during their membership period, while item credits offer a set number of complimentary services, classes, or products. This article will detail the distinctions between value credits and item credits within memberships.
Things to know:
-
Membership value and item credit prioritization rules:
-
Credits with Overlapping Applicability: When a client has multiple memberships with overlapping credit buckets applicable to similar items (e.g., credits for all products, all services, or all products, classes, and services), the system prioritizes the membership with a narrower scope. This approach preserves credits from older memberships for potential future use across broader scopes. For example: If a client has:
A canceled membership with credits applicable to both all products and all services.
An active membership with credits applicable only to all products or only to all service
- The system will use the credits from the active membership first, preserving the older credits for scenarios where multiple items need to be covered by credits.
-
Credits with Exact Overlap: When multiple memberships provide credits applicable to the exact same items:
Unused items and value credits from canceled memberships will be applied first, followed by credits from newer memberships.
Credits are applied on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis to ensure proper usage orders
-
Credit Usage Order:
- Canceled
- Pending Cancellation
- Active
- Frozen
- Payment Failed
Credits with Different Scopes: When memberships differ in scope (e.g., credits for all family members/pets vs. individual family members/pets),
-
The system prioritizes credits for individual family members/pets first, followed by credits applicable to all family members/pets.
- A hidden setting controls the option to display a single bucket of credits for memberships with upfront payment on client profiles. This setting can only be activated by the MyTime team. To enable it, please contact support@mytime.com.
-
When the setting is disabled, a new bucket of credits is created on the client profile after each successful charge. For example:
- If a 12-month membership runs from January to December with an upfront payment and includes $10 value credits, 12 buckets of $10 each will be created, with each bucket valid for one month.
- Each bucket will hold $10, allowing the client to use $10 per month, totaling $120 for the year.
- When the setting is enabled, only one bucket of credits is created for the entire term. For example, if a 12-month membership includes $10 value credits, a single bucket of $10 will be created, valid from January 1 to December 31.
