Appointment Duration Count on POS Ticket

The appointment duration count feature allows you to monitor the total amount of time your staff members spend on appointments. When viewing tickets for an appointment in POS, the total duration will be displayed. In this article, we'll guide you through how this feature works.


Things to know: 

  • You can choose whether the duration of an appointment is displayed in the POS based on the scheduled start time or the time the appointment was checked in. These options are controlled by separate hidden settings that can only be enabled by the MyTime team. To activate this hidden setting, please contact our Support Team at support@mytime.com. Please note that enabling the setting to display appointment duration based on the scheduled start time will override the setting to show appointment duration based on the time the appointment was checked in.

  • The total appointment duration is not displayed for multi-day appointments or for appointments where a check-in has not occurred (This applies when the setting to show appointment duration based on the check-in time is enabled, while the setting to display duration based on the start time is disabled.)
  • If the account is configured to show appointment duration based on when the appointment is checked in, the duration count is calculated as follows: 

    • For appointments where only a check-in has occurred, the duration is measured from the check-in time to the current time.

    • For appointments with both a check-in and check-out, the duration is measured from the check-in time to the checkout time.

  • If the account is configured to show appointment duration based on the scheduled start time, the duration count is calculated as follows:

    • For appointments not checked in or appointments that were only checked in, the duration is measured from the scheduled start time for the appointment to the current time.

    • For appointments that were checked in and checked-out, the duration is measured from the scheduled start time to the checkout time of the appointment.


Appointment Duration Count on POS Ticket

  1. From the schedule, filter to the desired date and location
  2. Locate the desired appointment > Open the appointment  
  3. Check in the appointment by changing the status to Checked-In > Save
  4. Re-open the appointment > Click the "Create Ticket" button                                                                                  
  5. In POS, the total appointment duration will be shown in parentheses on the ticket
  6. Take payment and complete the checkout


Checked-in Time Scenarios

The account is configured to display the appointment duration in the POS based on the time the appointment was checked in.

Appointment Checked In Only

The appointment was booked for 10:00 am and was checked in at 8:53 am

When checking out the appointment at 10:38 am, the total appointment duration of 1 hour and 44 minutes will be shown in parentheses on the ticket.


Appointment Checked In and Checked Out

The appointment was scheduled for 9:00 am, checked in at 8:53 am, and checked out at 10:00 am


When checking out the appointment, the total appointment duration of 1 hour 7 minutes will be shown in parentheses on the ticket.


Appointment Start Time Scenarios

The account is configured to show the appointment duration in the POS based on the scheduled start time of the appointment.

Appointment Scheduled But Not Checked In

Appointment Checked In Only

Appointment Checked In and Checked Out
