Impact of Reopening and Closing a Ticket on Report Data

Modified on Wed, 8 Jan at 4:53 PM

This article explains the impact of reopening and closing tickets on your report data. Whether a ticket is reopened to amend details or payment, such as the effect on refunds or additional payments, the financial reports in MyTime will reflect the data appropriately.

Things to know:

  • The behaviors displayed below will affect all reports that display revenue.
  • Clicking 'Done' on a reopened ticket doesn't affect the close date on the ticket or reports.

Processing Refunds

Processing Additional Payment

Any additional payments made on tickets closed in the past will be reflected on the date the payment was processed. For example, if a ticket was closed in October for $70 and later edited in November with an additional payment of $30, the following will happen:

  1. The revenue for October will remain at $70.
  2. The revenue for November will reflect the additional payment of $30.

Processing Refunds

Refunds will be reflected on the date the refund was processed, rather than the original ticket date. For example, if a ticket was closed in September for $200 and later edited in November to provide a refund of $50, the following will happen:

  1. The revenue for October will remain at $200.
  2. The $50 refund will be reflected in November when the refund is processed.

If you reopen and edit a ticket with any item type (service, product, membership, package, or gift card) to apply a discount, a refund will be required. However, the discount will be applied to the original date the ticket was closed, and no additional data will appear in the reports. For example, if a ticket was closed in October for $200 and later edited in November to apply a $40 discount, the discount column, when filtered to October, will be updated once the discount is applied.
