Marking a Client as Exempt on Client Profile

Modified on Mon, 13 Jan at 11:11 AM

MyTime offers businesses the option to apply tax-exempt status to individual clients. The tax-exempt status allows individuals to make purchases without being subject to certain taxes.

Things to know:

  • The tax-exempt status feature in MyTime is controlled via the "Editing Client Tax Status" access control, and its default setting is "blocked" for all roles except for the account owner.
  • Once the tax exemption is applied, the client will either be exempted from taxes or charged the exemption rate that was configured during the setup of taxes on any purchases made.

To mark a client as tax-exempt on their profile:

  1. Navigate to the Clients tab
  2. Locate and open the profile of the client you want to mark as tax-exempt
  3. Click on the edit icon within the client's profile
  4. Within the editing interface, find and scroll to the "Tax Exempt" section Tax.png
  5. Check the "Exempt" checkbox to indicate tax-exempt status
  6. Confirm the action by clicking "Yes" on the popup or confirmation dialog     tax 1.png
  7. Enter the client's Tax Exempt Verification Code tax 2.png
  8. Save

Instead of displaying a tax amount on POS tickets, the system will show the word 'Exempt.' This is a clear and straightforward way to indicate that the transaction is exempt from taxes.
