Selling electronic gift cards through POS offers a convenient and efficient way to boost sales and provide clients with flexible gifting options. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to sell electronic gift cards in POS, ensuring a smooth transaction process and an enhanced client experience.
Things to know:
- Gift cards sold to clients without being assigned to a recipient will be visible on the purchaser's account, enabling you to edit the gift card later and assign it to a recipient. This functionality is governed by the setting "Display Unassigned Gift Cards On The Purchaser's Profile," which can be found under Business Setup > Settings. For instance, if you sell a gift card to John through POS without adding a recipient, the gift card will be accessible on John's profile, and you can subsequently edit it to add a recipient.
- The gift card's purchase and balance will be visible in the Gift Card reports.
To get started:
- Navigate to POS > New Ticket
- Select Gift Card in the products tab
-
The gift card modal will appear. Here you can:
- Add the recipient's name, email or phone number (existing client or a new client)
- The dollar value in the "Amount to Add" field
- You can leave the Card # section blank, and MyTime will generate a code for the gift card automatically. Alternatively, you have the option to input your code if you prefer
- Save
- Click on the Take Payment button
- Close the ticket
- Once the payment and transaction are completed, the gift card details are saved in the recipient's profile
